First-generation Nigerian-American. No doctor at the dinner table, no playbook, no one to call. It took fifteen years from saying "surgeon" out loud to actually becoming one.

Every step had a right order and a wrong order, and nobody told me which was which. I applied too early, shadowed too late, picked the wrong research, and found out about deadlines from other people's mistakes instead of my own plan.

The part nobody handed me was the map — what to do, in what order, and who to ask. So I built it. That's this.
